Diabetes

Diabetes is the common name of Diabetes mellitus. This is a disease that is widely found in humans occurs due to imbalance of blood sugar. The word Diabetes is taken from a Greek word “diabanein” which means pass through. The patient of diabetes has to suffer with excessive urine production and excretion. Here is some detailed information about the same.

Insulin is a hormone in body that helps cell in using the body sugar for different activities like growth, repair and energy requirements in body. When the secretion of this hormone in body is not proper or the cells are not active enough to use this hormone, the storage sugar level in body readily increases. We know this disease as “Diabetes”.

Types of Diabetes

According to symptoms, this disease is divided into two types. The result of both the types in body is almost same but the reasons to occur it are different.  These are the two types:

Type 1 Diabetes

In first type of diabetes, the body of the patient produces very less or no quantity of insulin. As resultant, the sugar starts storing in body and patient suffers with the symptoms of diabetes. This diabetes is also known as juvenile diabetes as the symptoms of this disease is mostly in the age of 9-15 years.

Type 2 Diabetes

In second type of diabetes, the body produces the usual amount of insulin but the body cells do not function properly to use this insulin. This is the most common form of insulin found mostly in adults or in older people. Nowadays, this diabetes is found in all aged people. The main reason for this diabetes to develop in early aged people is improper diet, junk food, unhealthy diets and avoiding exercise.

Causes of the Diseases

First type of diabetes is basically is found in juveniles and is inherited. The symptoms are triggered by infections. In the type 2 diabetes, the problem is either genetic or due to prior living or diet habits. In older days when the body is less resistant for infections or other problem, symptoms of diabetes occur in older days of life.

These days, vast population of the world is suffering with diabetes and everyday hundreds of people are caught by it. If one gets to know about the problem in initial stage, many problems can be avoided, though in mostly cases permanent cure for this disease is not possible, timely treatment can help in regulating the problem. Below are the symptoms of this disease.

  • The first and the most common symptom of diabetes is polyuria, which mean frequent urination.  The sufferer of this disease urinated repeatedly. In first type of diabetes, the symptoms develop very speedily, in weeks or months where in second type of diabetes, symptom occurrence is quite slower and sometimes absent.
  • Change in vision second most visible symptom of this disease. The reason for this vision change glucose absorption due to higher blood glucose for long period. This leads to the change in the shape of eye lenses and the vision becomes blurred. IN first type of diabetes, the change in vision is very rapid and the eyesight weakens where in second type of diabetes, symptom of blur eyesight is comparatively gradual.
